iSnapture is a locally-run macOS screenshot and annotation tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how iSnapture handles your information, with a specific focus on the use of screen recording data.

Information We Collect

iSnapture does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Specifically:

• No personal information is collected
• No usage data, analytics, or telemetry is gathered
• No third-party tracking, analytics services, or advertising SDKs are used
• No account registration or login is required
• No data is sent to any remote server or cloud service

Screen Recording Data

iSnapture requires the macOS Screen Recording permission to function. Below is a complete description of how screen recording data is handled:

Features That Use Screen Recording

• Region Capture — captures a user-selected area of the screen
• Window Capture — captures a specific application window
• Full-Screen Capture — captures the entire screen
• Scroll Capture — captures scrolling content by stitching multiple frames
• Screen Recording — records a selected screen region as a video file, with optional system audio and/or microphone audio

Screen recording is only activated when the user manually triggers a capture or recording via hotkey or toolbar action. There is no continuous, background, or scheduled screen recording.

Data Collected via Screen Recording

Only the screen content visible at the moment the user initiates a capture is recorded. This includes the pixel content of the selected screen region, window, or full screen. No metadata, browsing history, passwords, or other sensitive information is specifically targeted or extracted.

Purpose of Screen Recording Data

Captured screenshots are used solely for the user's personal purposes:

• Saving the screenshot to a user-selected location on their device
• Annotating the screenshot with text, arrows, shapes, or other markups
• Copying the screenshot to the system clipboard for pasting into other applications

Screen recording data is never used for analytics, advertising, user profiling, machine learning, or any other secondary purpose.

Third-Party Sharing

No screen recording data is shared with any third party. iSnapture does not contain any network communication functionality. No data is transmitted to external servers, cloud services, APIs, or any other remote endpoint.

Storage of Screen Recording Data

• Screenshots are saved to a user-selected location via the standard macOS Save dialog (NSSavePanel), or to a directory previously chosen by the user in Settings
• Screenshots may be copied to the system clipboard
• A local history cache is stored in the app's Application Support directory for the user's convenience. This cache remains entirely on the user's device
• No screenshot data is ever stored on remote servers or cloud storage

Retention and Deletion

Users have full control over their screenshot data. Screenshots can be deleted at any time through the file system. The local history cache can be cleared within the app's settings. Uninstalling iSnapture removes all app-related data from the device.

System Permissions

iSnapture requires the following macOS system permissions:

• Screen Recording — required to capture screen content and record screen video. Only activated on user-initiated actions. No background recording occurs.
• Accessibility — required to identify window information for window-specific captures.
• Microphone (optional) — used only during screen recording when the user chooses to include microphone audio. Microphone data is written directly into the local video file and is never transmitted externally.

These permissions are used exclusively to deliver the app's core functionality and for no other purpose.

Data Security

Since iSnapture does not collect or transmit any data, there is no risk of data breach or unauthorized access from our end. All screenshots and edited content remain on your device at all times, under your full control.

Children's Privacy

iSnapture does not collect any personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13. The app complies with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requirements.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
